We are based in Prees, near Whitchurch in North Shropshire and are an FA Charter Standard Community Club.

We were delighted and proud to have won the Grassroots Football Club of the year 2022 in the Shropshire FA Football Awards. We have a strong committee which ensures that our club is run at a high standard and is always improving facilities and football for the club’s future, keeping our young people at the heart of everything we do.

Part of our assurance to parents and carers is that we have a quality assured process for all our Team Managers and coaches, ensuring each one undertakes an application process, reference checks, DBS, as well as up-to-date Safeguarding and First Aid qualifications through Shropshire FA.

Our teams have at least one coach who will have completed a Level 1 coaching badge and as a Club, we promote and fund Level 1 training for any of our coaches who wish to do so. Some of our coaches have progressed to Level 2 coaching badges and our training registers are regularly reviewed to ensure all qualifications are up to date and renewed, as necessary.

We have a number of teams – boys, girls and mixed boys and girls – from our youngest under 8s up to under 18s. We have had a lot of success with moving players from our club to Academies, including Shrewsbury Town, Manchester City and Manchester United. Some of our boys also play in the MJPL League and are in Shadow Squads for Shrewsbury Town and Stoke.

As a Club, we are immensely proud of our girls’ section and even more proud of our mixed teams who all help in upholding our values of equality on and off the pitch.

Our crèche runs for children ages 4 and up and through our Development Pathway, we aim to create two new teams each year at U7 or U8. These teams are borne from our crèche players who will have been under the guidance of our Prees Penguins coach and PPP Girls crèche, teaching valuable and skill-based training, in preparation for league-affiliated teams at age 7 or 8.

Dave Bennett offers goalkeeper sessions once per week and gives our keepers confidence, working on their skills to ensure we have some of the “best in net.”

We are very fortunate to have use of outstanding playing fields including a floodlit full-size grass pitch, an Intermediate grass pitch and a 9 v 9 grass pitch. We also have a 7 v 7 enclosed 3G Astroturf pitch and a newly completed multi-purpose Astro pitch which can facilitate training sessions for our youngest players.

The fantastic facilities at Prees include a Clubhouse with changing rooms, toilets, a function room for hire and a fully licensed bar, with a fabulous balcony overlooking the pitches. In partnership with the Prees Recreation Club, we offer pizza and chips to our opposition teams after matches and are well known throughout the community for Friday Pizza Nights with Gary’s homemade in-house and takeaway pizzas.

Prees Junior Football Club prides itself on our Club values including Respect, Teamwork, Integrity and Charity. We are not just an ordinary Football Club. We are a family-friendly, inclusive Club providing a safe environment where lifelong friendships can be made through Sport and are served by a Junior Football Committee with a wealth of personal and professional experience to uphold those values, whilst ensuring we provide a safe, enjoyable and supportive environment for young people in and around Shropshire.
